Studio B: Intimate and Powerful
Located on the ground floor, Studio B is our second world-class recording studio. It offers a more intimate and cozy feel than Studio A, but don't let its slightly smaller size fool you—this studio is a powerhouse. Just as well-equipped as its big brother, Studio B is perfect for tracking live bands with its medium-sized live room and an isolation booth. The design of the space allows for unparalleled separation while still maintaining complete visual communication between tracking areas. Like Studio A, Studio B combines the best of analog outboard gear with the latest digital recording and automation.
Features:
-
Control room with floating floors, amazing outboard gear, and a Trident-designed console
-
Two medium-to-large live rooms (soundproof to the highest STC)
-
Large ISO/vocal booth
-
Foyer/lounge area
-
Kitchenette for tea and coffee
-
Production warehouse
A Legacy of Sound
Studio B was the original studio at our Varsity Lakes commercial location. Before we took ownership in late 2015, it was known as LUNA Audio and was a beloved studio space on the Gold Coast. We fell in love with the space and knew it was the perfect choice for us to continue the legacy that LUNA had built. Since then, we've hosted artists from major labels like Universal, Warner, and Sony, as well as many independent artists.
The Toft "Trident Series" ATB 32 Console
Studio B is home to our Toft ATB 32 console, designed by legendary Trident designer Malcolm Toft. It features the same EQ circuit designs as the original Trident 80B console, a brand born out of the famous Trident Studios in the UK. When Neve couldn't make a console to suit the studio's needs, Malcolm Toft, the head technician, decided to make his own, and a legend was born. Trident consoles became famous when artists like Queen and David Bowie recorded on them, and their incredibly musical EQ became a key feature.

The Toft ATB, released in the 2000s, borrowed most of its design from the original 80B but with updated circuitry that made it even cleaner. The original Toft in the studio was decommissioned in 2017 and replaced with a new one that features Version 3 upgrades, including better faders, improved preamps, and meter bridge switching. We have further modified our console to increase headroom, improve crosstalk, and lower the noise floor.
